Occupational Therapy Sessions (OT Telehealth)

Our experienced Occupational Therapist team offers ongoing therapy services via telehealth, supporting NDIS participants to build independence, develop functional and everyday living skills, and work towards their NDIS goals in a flexible and accessible way. These sessions are designed to provide practical, personalised support that fits into your daily routine, no matter where you are located in Australia.

Through a collaborative and person-centred approach, our Occupational Therapists work closely with participants to identify challenges, build on strengths, and implement strategies that create meaningful and lasting improvements in everyday life.

Occupational Therapy Sessions

Who is this therapy for?

Our ongoing therapy sessions are suitable for NDIS participants of all ages who are looking to improve their functional capacity and achieve greater independence in their daily lives. It can be carried out with carers, family members and participants.

These services are particularly beneficial for individuals who require support with functional skill development. This may include learning how to complete everyday tasks more independently, improving coordination, or developing the confidence to manage responsibilities at home or in the community.

How can participants benefit?

Participants who experience difficulties with routine building and structure can also benefit significantly from ongoing therapy online. Establishing consistent daily routines can improve productivity, reduce stress, and create a sense of stability. Our therapists help break down tasks into manageable steps and implement systems that are easy to follow and maintain.

Emotional regulation support is another key area. Many individuals face challenges managing emotions such as anxiety, frustration, or overwhelm. Through therapy, participants can learn practical coping strategies to better regulate their emotions and respond to situations calmly and constructively.

Executive functioning support is ideal for those who struggle with planning, organisation, time management, or task initiation. These skills are essential for managing daily life, whether it’s completing schoolwork, maintaining employment, or handling household responsibilities.

We also support individuals going through important life transitions, such as moving from school to work, starting a new job, or learning to live independently. These transitions can feel overwhelming, and our therapists provide structured guidance to help participants navigate these changes with confidence.

What We Support With

Our ongoing Occupational Therapy sessions cover a wide range of functional areas, ensuring that support is tailored to each participant’s unique needs and goals.

Daily living skills (self-care, routines, organisation)

We help participants develop essential daily living skills such as personal care, maintaining routines, and staying organised. This can include support with showering, dressing, preparing meals, managing personal spaces, and building habits that promote independence. By strengthening these foundational skills, participants can gain greater control over their daily lives.

Executive functioning (planning, organisation, time management, task initiation): Executive functioning skills are crucial for managing tasks and responsibilities effectively. Our therapists work with participants to improve planning, organisation, time management, and task initiation. This may involve creating schedules, using visual supports, breaking tasks into smaller steps, and developing strategies to stay focused and on track.

Emotional regulation and coping strategies:

Emotional well-being plays a significant role in overall functioning. We support participants in developing coping strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges. This may include mindfulness techniques, grounding strategies, and the identification of triggers to build healthier emotional responses over time.

Sensory strategies:

For individuals with sensory processing challenges, everyday environments can feel overwhelming or uncomfortable. Our therapists provide tailored sensory strategies to help participants better regulate their responses to sensory input. This can include creating sensory-friendly routines, identifying calming techniques, and adapting environments to improve comfort and focus.

Community participation, social skills and confidence building:

Building confidence in social and community settings is an important part of independence. We support participants in developing communication skills, social interaction strategies, and the confidence to engage in community activities. This may include preparing for social situations, practising conversations, and gradually increasing participation in meaningful activities.

Support with study, work, and life transitions:

Whether it’s starting school, entering the workforce, or transitioning to independent living, these life stages can bring new challenges. Our therapy sessions provide practical support to help participants adjust, build skills, and succeed in these environments. This includes developing routines, improving focus, and managing expectations in new settings.

Parent/carer coaching and capacity building:

We also work closely with parents, carers, and support networks to ensure consistency and long-term success. Through coaching and capacity building, we provide guidance on reinforcing strategies at home, managing challenges effectively, and supporting the participant’s ongoing development.

How telehealth OT therapy works

All ongoing therapy sessions are delivered via telehealth, making services accessible and convenient for participants across Australia.

Sessions are conducted via Google Meet, a secure, easy-to-use and free platform that enables real-time interaction between the participant and their Occupational Therapist.

Each session is delivered one-on-one with an experienced Occupational Therapist who tailors the approach to suit the participant’s goals, preferences, and environment. This ensures that therapy remains highly personalised and relevant.

To enhance engagement and understanding, therapists utilise tools such as screen sharing, visual supports, and interactive resources. These tools help break down complex tasks, demonstrate strategies, and make sessions more engaging, particularly for younger participants.

Where appropriate, carers or support workers can also be involved in sessions. This enables better collaboration and ensures that strategies can be implemented consistently outside therapy sessions.

Key Benefits of Choosing OT Assessed Telehealth Therapy

Telehealth offers a range of benefits that make it an effective and practical option for ongoing therapy.

One of the main advantages is that no travel is required. This reduces fatigue, saves time, and removes common barriers such as transportation or distance. Participants can attend sessions from the comfort of their own home, which often leads to a more relaxed and productive experience.

Telehealth also allows for faster access to services, with shorter wait times compared to traditional in-person therapy. This means participants can begin working towards their goals sooner.

Another key benefit is consistency. Regardless of location, participants can continue receiving support without disruption. This is especially valuable for those living in regional or remote areas where access to services may be limited.

Being in a familiar environment can also enhance engagement and outcomes. Participants are able to practice skills in the same setting where they are applied, making strategies more practical and easier to implement in everyday life.

Our Service Structure

Our ongoing therapy sessions are designed to be flexible and adaptable to each participant’s needs.

Session frequency can be adjusted depending on goals and availability, with options such as weekly or fortnightly appointments. This flexibility ensures that participants receive the right level of support without feeling overwhelmed.

We offer both short-term and long-term support. Some participants may require targeted intervention over a short period, while others benefit from ongoing therapy to continue building skills and maintaining progress.

These sessions can also be combined with other services to provide a comprehensive approach to care. For example, therapy can be integrated with Functional Capacity Assessment updates, Home and Living assessments, or progress reports for NDIS plan reviews. This ensures that all supports are aligned and working towards the same goals.
